Prof (Dr) S. Vijayalakshmi graduated from Andhra University and obtained her BL and ML from Acharya Nagarjuna University, Guntur. She obtained third rank in her Masters degree in law with Labour Law specialisation. She has been awarded Ph. D in law from Osmania University, Hyderabad in 2008 on the topic “Equal Pay for Equal Work” with special reference to MCH. She has more than 31 years of teaching experience in law. She worked as a lecturer in SVD Siddhartha Law College, Vijayawada affiliated to Acharya Nagarjuna University, Guntur and later worked as an Assistant Professor in Dr B R Ambedkar Law College, Hyderabad affiliated to Osmania University. She also has 11 years of administrative experience as the Principal of Dr B R Ambedkar Law College, Hyderabad. During her Principalship Dr B R Ambedkar Law College has been recognised as one of best law colleges in Telangana State and has been awarded “Certificate of Excellence” by India Today-Neilson in 2014 and Chronicle All India Law Colleges Survey in 2019. She wrote number of Articles on different socio-legal issues such as, Gender Equality, Women Empowerment, Violence against Women, Equal Pay for Equal Work, Rights of Girl Child, The Menace of Female Foeticides and Infanticides, Child Labour, Rights of Children, Social Security of Labour, Industrial Relations, Collective Bargaining, Vicarious Liability of State for Torts etc. She also wrote study material on Wages and Minimum Labour Standards, Industrial Discipline and Punishment Process, Social Security Law and Law and Environment. She presented more than 40 papers in various national and international seminars and conferences. She chaired sessions and was the resource person in national seminars. She delivered guest lectures at AP Police Academy, APHRDI etc. She also organised seminars and webinars on different socio legal issues. She has guided research students. She was also the paper setter and examiner. She was a member of Faculty of Law, Osmania University and also was a member of LAWCET-2010 Admissions Committee. Her areas of interest are Labour Laws, Law of Torts, Women and Law, Constitutional Law and Human Rights Law.
