About

Dr K. Sudha is an alumnus of Acharya Nagarjuna University, Andhra Pradesh. She has 23 years teaching experience at DSNLU and Montessori Mahila College of Law, Vijayawada, AP and practiced law at Vijayawada between 2003 and 2009. She teaches environmental law, international environmental law and administrative law and her areas of research are environmental law, social justice, sex trafficking and land laws.

Her book titled ‘Prostitution Laws: An Enigma and Some Dilemmas’ was published by Promilla & Co. Publishers in association with Bibliophile South Asia, New Delhi in 2016. She edited/ co-edited three books titled ‘Managing the Blue’ (2022), ‘Conserve for Future” (2021), and ‘Green Governance’ (2018) which were published by DSNLU as a part of its Environmental Law Series. She was also the associate editor of another DSNLU publication titled “Law and Mental Health (Clinic to Community Care)” (2021). She writes both in Telugu and English.

She is/was associated with three research projects and is the Project Director of an ICSSR sponsored Minor Research Project titled ‘the study of digitization and modernization of land records in India with special reference to Visakhapatnam district in the State of Andhra Pradesh’ in 2022-23.

She organized two ICSSR-SRC sponsored events namely: a 2 day National Webinar on “Water Management Laws: Laws, Livelihood and Environment” (2021) and secondly, a 2 day National Seminar on “Land, Records and Rights: Laws, Governance and Challenges” (2023) and an Andhra Pradesh State Council of Higher Education (APSCHE) sponsored 2 day National Seminar on “Law and Gender Justice” (2011).

Apart from her academic interests, she finds herself in the human rights movement and her association with it goes back to 1983. She is one of the 33 founding members of Human Rights Forum (HRF), an AP and Telangana based human rights organization formed in 1998 that seeks to address structured oppression and inequality.
