Introduction
In an era of globalization, international law acts as a vital mechanism to manage the complexities of cross-border relations. It facilitates peaceful coexistence, addresses conflicts, and ensures that states and non-state actors adhere to common rules. Whether in trade agreements, climate change negotiations, or humanitarian efforts, international law underpins the legal and moral obligations that govern international interactions.
About Us
The Centre for International Law and Allied Disciplines (CILAD) was established as a student-run initiative in 2024. Born through a keen interest in the study of International Law, International Relations & Foreign Policy, the Centre aims to further interdisciplinary research in the fields of public and private international law. It envisions facilitating academic discourse by simplifying the understanding of international law. We encourage multidisciplinary research in fields like International Trade Law, International Environmental Law, International Humanitarian Law, etc. by inviting publications.
Objectives
- Facilitate Academic Discourse: Conducting workshops featuring guest speakers, faculty members, and practitioners to provide insights and engage in thoughtful discussions on contemporary international legal topics.
- Publication Platform: Alongside an e-platform for blog submissions on rolling basis, the Centre plans to launch a quarterly journal (with an ISSN or equivalent code) dedicated to international law, showcasing the scholarly work of students and professionals.
- Skill Development: To enhance practical legal skills and provide a hands-on understanding of international legal processes, we shall organise events simulating real world applications of various facets of international law.
- Collaboration: The centre will be a medium to establish partnerships with other academic institutions, international organizations, and legal practitioners to enhance the impact and reach of the centre’s activities. This will provide resources, mentorship, and guidance to students and early-career researchers in the field of international law.
