About

Dr. Rifat Khan is an Assistant Professor of Law at Damodaram Sanjivayya National Law University (DSNLU), Visakhapatnam, having joined in October 2024. She is a committed professional with over ten years of experience and a creative teacher with more than eight years of instructional experience. Dr. Rifat Khan holds a Ph.D in Law from Lovely Professional University, Punjab, where her research focused on the ‘Socio-Legal Dimensions of Drug Abuse Among Women in Kashmir’. She is UGC NET qualified and holds an LL.M. in Criminal Laws and an LL.B from the University of Kashmir, Srinagar.

Prior to her current role, she served as an Assistant Professor and Coordinator in Charge at the Department of Law, University of Calicut, Kerala. Her professional strengths include experience in the NAAC Accreditation process and managing and coordinating various academic activities at the department. During her tenure, she has mentored many students and guided post-graduation LL.M dissertations. She has taught multiple subjects including Criminal Law, Criminology, Penology and Victimology, Police and Security Administration, Narcotic and Psychotropic Substances Act, Constitutional Law, Legal Education and Research Methodology, Socio-Economic Offences, Law of Torts, Family Law etc.

Apart from being convenor and member of various academic Centres and Committees at DSNLU, she also is an active member of the Academic Council, the Admission Committee, the Examination Committee, and the Disciplinary Committee. She also is a member of Board of Studies (PG) for Law at University of Calicut. Kerala.
