“INTERNATIONAL CONFERENCE ON “IMMANUEL KANT AND TRANSFORMATIVE JUSTICE” 14-15 December 2019

The University held a two-day International Conference on “Immanuel Kant and Transformative Justice”. The Conference was inaugurated by Prof.Moolchand Sharma, former member of the Law Commisison of India. Prof. Dr. S. Surya Prakash, Honourable Vice Chancellor of DSNLU delivered the Inaugural Address noting that the Conference was a one-of-its kind platform to discuss the importance of Kantian thought in developing perceptions of transformative   justice  in   the  21st  century.Prof A Lakshminath, former Chancellor, DSNLU, drew parallels between Kantian ideology and Indian mythology by quoting a dialogue between Lord Krishna and Arjuna during the Kurukshetra that represented the idea of consequential sensitivity. Prof. Mukesh Shrivastava and Prof. Tapan Mohanty, NLIU, Bhopal, spoke of Kant’s philosophy from a methodical.

The Legal Incubation Centre, DSNLU organised a one-day Workshop on “LAW OF EVIDENCE: ‘CHALLENGES IN PRACTICE AND PROCEDURE’” on October 10th, 2020

A three-day Program on“PERCEPTIVE OF THE NEW EDUCATION POLICY, 2020”September 23 to 25, 2020 as a part of DSNLU foundation day celebrations.

The Insolvency Bankruptcy Board of India ( IBBI) and the Centre for Business and Commercial Laws, DSNLU (CBCL) organised a one day Capacity Building Programme on “The Insolvency & Bankruptcy Code, 2016″ on 10th August, 2020

Scott J. Shapiro, Charles F. Southamayd Professor of Law and Professor of Philosophy, Yale University, USA addressed the students on “What is Law (and Why Should We Care)?”on 24th July, 2020.

The University conducted an Eleven Days Faculty Development Program on “Online Law Teaching and Learning Methods” from July, 15th, 2020 to July, 28th, 2020.

The 6th DSNMCC 2020 saw a participation of 24 teams from across the nation which included some of the premier National Law Universities such as the WBNUJS, RMLNLU,NLIU, NLUO amongst a few and other reputed universities such as the Rizvi Law College, Mumbai, Symbiosis Law School, Pune, etc.

National Roving Seminar on “Patent Cooperation Treaty”
DR APJ ABDUL KALAM NATIONAL IPR QUIZ 19th October 2019

It was a momentous occasion for DSNLU to be organising an IP-based quiz in the fond memory of Dr. APJ Abdul Kalam.Prof. Dr. MPadmavathi, Rajeev Gandhi School of Intellectual Property Law, IIT Kharagpur wasthe Chief Guest for the inaugural session of the quiz competition. She called for interdisciplinary research and study of Intellectual Property Law in conjunction with other laws such as Law of Contracts, Family Law, Competition Law, and Constitutional law. Citing how students of law at IIT Kharagpur were required to scout for traditional knowledge and apply for Geographical Indi- cations for such knowledge, she stated the importance of knowing the practical and procedural as- pects of law in addition to theoretical knowledge of law. In that, she stressed on the creation of ‘Law laboratories’ in law schools across the Nation wherein the students will be involved in draft- ing, pleading, conveyancing, patenting etc. so as to gain such practical knowledge.The IPR Quiz began after her enlightening speech. The team from Shastra (Deemed-to-be) Univer- sity was declared the Winner.

SEMINAR ON “GANDHIAN EDUCATION AND NAI TALIM” IN COMMEMORATION OF MAHATMA GANDHI’S 150TH BIRTH ANNIVERSARY 10th October 2019

The Hon’ble Vice Chancellor Prof. (Dr.) S. Surya Prakash delivered the Welcome Address wherein he emphasized on Gandhiji’s resort to non-violence and honesty to achieve independence. He also asserted that Gandhi’s life journey is an inspiration to all. He also explained the meaning of ‘nai talim’- that knowledge and work are not separate;i.e.practical-training based education.The Chief Guest, Dr. Ganta Gauri, a renowned scholar on Gandhian studies, elaborated on the relevance of Gandhian ideology in today’s world in the  special  context   of   terrorism,   social  injustice, intolerance, and environmental degradation.Dr.Lakshmipathy Raju and Mr. Bayola Kiran stressed on the invocation of Gandhian ideologies in lawyering and advocacy.In honour of the Mahatma, DSNLU also undertook a plantation drive.

NATIONAL SEMINAR ON “ILO AND CHILD RIGHTS” ON 28TH AND 29TH SEPTEMBER 2019 TO COMMEMORATE 100 YEARS OF THE INTERNATIONAL LABOUR ORGANISATION

A two-day national seminar on Child rights and International labour Organization has organized by DamodaramSanjivyya National Law University. It was conducted on the eve of completion of 100 years of ILO. The seminar was inaugurated Saturday on 28th September, 2019.The Chief Guest for inaugural ceremony was Prof.  Prasad Reddy, Vice Chancellor, Andhra University. The Guest of Honor was Prof. (Dr.) K.V.S. Sarma, Vice Chancellor, MNLU, Aurangabad. The theme of the seminar was introduced by Prof. M. Lakshmipathi Raju, seminar convener and Adjunct professor, DSNLU, Visakhapatnam.

PANEL DISCUSSION ON “ARTICLE 370 AND THE CONSTITUTION” 24th September 2019

To mark the Founding Day of the University, DSNLU organised a Panel Discussion on “Article 370 and the Constitution” with the Vice Chancellor Prof. (Dr.) Surya Prakash, Prof (Dr.) A Lakshminath [Former Vice Chancellor, CNLU, Patna; and founding Chancellor, DSNLU], Prof. (Dr.) K Madhusudan [Andhra University], Prof. D. Papa Rao [Economic and Financial Analyst], Asst. Professor A Nageswara Rao [DSNLU].Prof.B.P Panda, Professor of Eminence, DSNLU introduced the topic to the audience through a historical perspective on the structure of governance in Kashmir.Then, Prof Surya Prakash established the constitutional validity of the abrogation of Article 370 in light of Article 370 (3) of the Constitution that empowers the President of India to pass an order of abrogation.Prof. A Lakshminath stressed on the quasi-federal nature of the Indian Constitution with an emphasis on Article 1 of the Constitution that declares India to be ‘a Union of States’.Prof K Madhusudan elaborated on the intricacies of the federal structure adopted by India. He also discussed the Agreement signed between Jawaharlal Nehru and Sheik Abdullah and its interaction with the Indian Constitution.Economic and financial analyst Prof.D.Papa Rao stressed on the importance of economic stability and development in Kashmir in bringing about peace and harmony.Dr. A. Nageshwara Rao opined that Article 370 is an internal matter of India and that Pakistan should not interfere in it.In all, the discussion was a success in giving students legal, socio-economic, and political perspectives to the abrogation of Article 370.

Damodaram Sanjivayya National Law University organized a seminar on COPYRIGHTS AND THE INTERNET REVOLUTION –CHANGING LANDSCAPES, on 10thAugust 2019. The chief guest of the seminar was Prof. (Dr.). V.K. Ahuja, in-charge of Law Center II, Delhi University, and the Guest of Honor was Shri. G. Raghavendra, Joint Secretary, Ministry of Law and Justice, Government of India.

NATIONAL SEMINAR ON CIVIL TRIAL ADVOCACY 1ST MARCH TO 3RD MARCH 2019

The Seminar on Civil Trial Advocacy emphasized on the various theoretical aspects of civil law practice such as jurisdictional claims, foundational terms, fundamentals of filing a suit, etc and practical knowledge relating to includes drafting, pleading, and presentation of oral arguments before the Court.Honourable Justice Dr.K.G.Shankar (retired as Judge of High Court of Andhra Pradesh), Justice K.V. Vijaya Kumar (Retired as Principal District Judge), and Mr.Mohan Rao (Senior Advocate, Hyderabad) presided over various sessions of the Seminar. Drawing from their long years of ex- perience at the Bench and Bar, they gave valuable inputs to students and budding lawyers.

5TH DAMODARAM SANJIVAYYA NATIONAL MOOT COURT COMPETITION 2019

The 5th DSNMC witnessed the participation of 24 teams from various reputed and prestigious legal institutes of the country, including other National Law Universities and premier law colleges.The competition commenced with the Inaugural Ceremony, conducted on 22ndFebruary, 2019. witnessing the participation of 24 enthusiastic teams from across the country. The Preliminary Rounds and the Quarter Final Rounds were conducted on 23rdFebruary, 2019, presided over by 18 distinguished judges from different Law Firms (Amarchand Mangaldas& Co., Fox Mandal & Associates, Khaitan & Co., Lakshmi kumaran & Sridharan, etc.) and High Courts.

REGIONAL WORKSHOP ON BIOLOGICAL DIVERSITY 5TH AND 6TH JANUARY 2019

A Two-day Regional workshop on Biodiversity Law was organised by DSNLU in collaboration with UNDP, NLSIU, and GEF. The workshop hosted participants from various disciplines such as law, agricultural sciences, fishery sciences studying across the regions of Andhra Pradesh.The bjective of the workshop was to create awareness about legal mechanism for conservation of biodiversity in India. The workshop was inaugurated by Hon’ble Vice-Chancellor of NLSIU Prof.(Dr.) R. Venkat Rao and an introductory remark was given by Hon’ble Vice-Chancellor of DSNLU Prof. (Dr.) S. Surya Prakash. Dr. K. Tulasi Rao from AP State Biodiversity Board was the Chief Guest of the event
